Longchamp SS21 Très Paris Collection
For its 2021 Spring & Summer collection, Longchamp takes a daring move by breaking away from the overly sophisticated style of the classic Parisian woman to thus portray the more exciting, fun, and casual side of the Maison. Inspired by its muse’s one-of-a-kind energy, Très Paris highlights pieces that are carefree, uninhibited, and surreal.
Artistic director, Sophie Delafontaine, explains the kind of Parisian woman she envisioned for Très Paris, “I wanted to depict an active, spontaneous, and open-minded woman, one who grabs hold of life with elegance and independent spirit. She’s strong, but also indulgent and never takes herself too seriously."
The collection was unveiled through a whimsical short film that depicts the tale of two Parisian women and their identical Longchamp Roseau bags, which were accidentally exchanged in the whirlwind of Paris by night.

The tale revolves around two Parisian women and two Longchamp bags. Blurring the lines between fantasy and reality, the Maison elaborately portrays the City of Lights as, also, the city of endless possibilities. Set to "Il est cinq heures, Paris s’éveille..." ("It's 5 a.m., Paris awakens")—which is a famous song by Jacques Dutronc and was reinterpreted for the film featuring Clara Luciani’s deep and sensual voice—the Très Paris film has the feel of a music video.
This bold and carefree cinematic adventure illustrates the authentic city that real Parisian women know and love. It casts up-and-coming actresses, Mathilde Ollivier and Amber Anderson, as well as an adorable white kitten who plays the role of Blanche. It also features a smart-looking man on a motorcycle, an espresso, and an Eiffel Tower that’s beautifully held in place by a pyramid base. The footages were shot in a series of iconic locations including Arc de Triomphe, Place Dauphine, Place de la Concorde, Tour Eiffel, Avenue Trudaine, Escalier Mont Cenis, Cafe Le Mansart, and Les Bains.

The brand's moodboard shines the spotlight on Paris where Longchamp was founded in 1948. Paying tribute to Parisian femininity, Delafontaine introduces quirky designs such as audacious macramé on skirts, tops, and shirt fronts. She also incorporates a net style print and dazzling English embroidery on ready-to-wear items, bags, and accessories. Then comes the contrast of sportswear nuances that bring edge and mobility to the collection.
As for the bags, several models featuring metallic effects and bright colors were directly inspired by the work of James Turrel, a Californian painter; while the coral and rusty orange pinks were taken straight from the paintings of Louise Bourgeois and Carol Rama.
Among its rich selection, the Longchamp Roseau and 1980 bags—which feature smooth vinyl or crocodile style leathers—are two of the key highlights from the SS21 Très Paris collection. Another that has made a huge buzz so far for its unconventional design is the Filet Le Pliage, a mesh tote bag with Le Pliage handles that’s made in partnership with FILT (the French manufacturer of the famous cotton mesh shopping bag). Meanwhile, the new Brioche line has yet to make its debut in the coming summer 2021.
