Prep For Adventure With Brooks Brothers Fall 2019 Red Fleece Collection
The fall 2019 Red Fleece collection is an exploration—and celebration—of the label’s Ivy League roots. Inspired by the prestigious athletic programs of the universities that dot the American East Coast, the season’s clothing is relaxed yet refined, and infused with preppy exuberance. With logos and a subtle bulldog mascot theme, the collection takes the irreverence of collegiate sportswear and injects it with signature Brooks Brothers polish.
The early part of the season is marked by a wear-now sensibility and is focused on the transitional feel of fall. Whether it’s a late summer stroll on the beach or a weekend in the country, lightweight layers are designed to keep the wearer comfortable from morning to evening. The palette of the early season is defined by preppy red and white with flourishes of navy and act as the last breath of summer. Super-soft tees and rugby-inspired knits for him are paired with signature Red Fleece denim in a new light wash. Cotton novelty sweaters take the place of warm outerwear early in the season, but an innovative packable men’s trench can be carried for unexpected showers.
In palette and style, the latter part of the season evokes a true fall feeling. Moody overcast greys are offset by seasonal yellows, mirroring the autumn skies. This gleeful, exuberant bending of rules recalls the rebellious sensibility that gave rise to the Ivy League style movement.
To evoke Red Fleece spirit, much like school spirit, the collection has branded moments throughout—including red eyelets on footwear, special rivets and red threading on denim, and silicon crest sleeve patches on sportswear and outerwear.
