Loewe's New Balloon Bag

LOEWE’s new Balloon bag was the star of the Women’s Spring Summer 2020 show. Drawing on the house’s longstanding expertise in leatherwork, the Balloon bag is crafted from two kinds of leather: a round structured base of robust calf leather and sitting inside of that, a sac of soft napa calfskin. This napa is of the highest, most full-bodied quality so the bag is left unlined. It’s just as smooth and tactile on the inside as out.

The Balloon bag comes in three sizes: small, medium and large. Each medium and large Balloon bag comes with a pair of straps. There’s a shorter handle so that it can be worn high on the shoulder or held in the hand, and a longer adjustable strap so that it can be slung across the body or hung low from the shoulder, depending on one’s style. The small Balloon bag comes only with the longer adjustable strap. And every size pulls closed with a knotted leather drawstring, which can be personalized with LOEWE Anagram Dice in all kinds of colours, sizes and designs.

This new signature bag from LOEWE will be rolled out across the spring. From 20 January, the medium black-and-tan calfskin model will be available online. On 13 February, the Balloon bag lands in stores in natural tones of taupe, vintage khaki, soft white and more, all in small, medium and large sizes. There will also be a special ecru canvas-and-calfskin edition and, as a prelaunch for Japan, a natural raffia-and-calfskin edition. And then on 27 February, more Balloon bags will be released in two-tone variations of smooth hazelnut-and-tan, black-and-tan and topaz-and-black calfskin.
