LOEWE Magazine Issue 8

The new LOEWE magazine presents a scrapbook of ideas around the Fall-Winter 2025 collection and the many pieces inspired by the artists Anni and Josef Albers’ textiles and colour field paintings, explores the eighth LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize, and meets Anora actor Mark Eydelshteyn to discuss the magical realism of LOEWE’s Crafted World.

The Autumn issue of LOEWE’s quarterly publication marks the release of the new Fall-Winter 2025 campaign, featuring the iconic English actor Lesley Manville and rising star Raffey Cassidy. To complement the images, Manville describes a day in her life on set in London modelling the new collection, while a rapid-fire Q&A sees Brutalist actor Cassidy discuss aisle seats, art house cinema, and ABBA.

The magazine opens with a series of stories dedicated to the Fall-Winter 2025 men’s and womenswear collections. The first is dedicated to the presentation at the Hôtel des Maisons in Paris, where Jonathan Anderson’s final body of work for LOEWE appears in dialogue with works of art and design that defined his decade at the house. With its capsule of pieces made in collaboration with the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation, the magazine pays homage to the mid-century pioneers by examining their pivotal role in reframing how we perceive and what can be perceived as art. We then take a deep dive into how Anni Albers’s textile tapestries and Josef Albers’s Homage to the Square series of paintings are translated as multicoloured handwoven coats, skirts, and intricately embroidered accessories.

While in the atelier, we follow the many steps needed to piece a Featherlight Puzzle together, LOEWE’s lightest bag yet, released to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the Puzzle. The celebration of craft continues with the Madrid homecoming of the LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize. A special portfolio surveys the extreme lengths the thirty finalists went to in realising projects that count a curtain made from a ton of mussels, a broom made from an acre of corn, and a year in the mountains of Japan, ritually harvesting bamboo by hand.

Another project that shares LOEWE’s joy of making by hand is Crafted World, which landed in Tokyo earlier this year. It is where we meet Mark Eydelshteyn, at midnight under the cherry blossoms of the Meguro River, to discuss the “magical realism” of the house’s exhibition, and a day spent exploring the city captured on Polaroid and Purikura-booth print.

Elsewhere, Evan Ross Katz asks actor Jamie Dornan some gently probing questions around pumpkin soup and partying in Paris. And, in one last act of spreading the joy of making by hand, the issue includes a paper maquette of a 1977 Ford Fiesta given the full LOEWE makeover for readers to assemble at home – another experiment of the atelier, and another cult classic.
