Kate Spade New York Signature Handbag Collection Fall 2020

When Creative Director Nicola Glass first joined kate spade new york in 2018, she was inspired by the shape of the heart that is found naturally within the spade symbol, the center of the brand’s iconography. 

Each season, the spade is used in many iterations across categories – both boldly and subtly, in almost secretive or surprising ways. It is incorporated into print patterns, leather embossing and cut-out design details.  It’s seen on the heel of a shoe and the hardware in our handbags.  One of Nicola’s earliest interpretations was the spade flower pattern, created by the joining together of four spades to form a clover-like effect, showcasing the endless possibilities that the spade has.

Pulling inspiration from the brand’s iconic spade symbol, we are excited to launch a new collection of handbags for Fall 2020, called the Signature Collection. Each piece is adorned with the spade flower pattern – created in a special coated canvas we designed with the famed Italian textile mill Limonta (est. 1893).  Select styles are embossed with either colorful racing stripes or fruit motifs to create unique, practical pieces for a woman’s everyday life. Bonus: it’s durable and easy to wipe clean.
