Givenchy Presents The Mystic Handbag: A Statement Inspired By Haute Couture Fall 2019
With its Pre-Fall 2019 collection, Givenchy unveils a handbag inspired by Artistic Director Clare Waight Keller’s haute couture silhouettes.
In keeping with the mystique of Clare Waight Keller’s collections for the House of Givenchy, the Mystic statement combines sophistication and softness. With sculptural shoulders covered by a graceful V-shaped flap, its structured silhouette reprises haute couture signatures and simultaneously suggests power and restraint.
In the Mystic, generosity meets volume and lightness: its elegant shape is versatile enough to accompany a variety of looks and its body, in fine calf leather, opens to reveal an ample compartment lined in contrasting suede. Numerous details denote its high level of craftsmanship, from hand-made top stitching and hand-painted edging to a handle made of a triple layer of suede, calf leather and a hand- applied bombé cushion that ensures comfort and, with wear, takes on an individual patina.
Half-hidden by the flap, a stylized double-G clasp has a new silky gold finish that complements the design’s sleekness while underscoring an aura of secrecy: whether the bag is carried open or closed, its flap ensures that contents remain hidden from view. A practical back flat pocket keeps essentials to hand.
The Mystic is fitted with a removable, adjustable strap to adapt to multiple styles of wear, from hand-carry to cross-body. If the wearer so chooses, the bag may be further customized with XL gold-finish charms shaped like dice, a whistle or a medal covered by a protective leather sheath.
The Mystic bags are available in eight colors: black, natural, desert, storm gray, aubergine, pale pink, yellow and lichen.
