Bally Autumn-Winter 2018 Collection
The Story is one of Bally’s homecoming.
A journey through past eras; defining and enriching this historic brand. Reviving a luxury sportswear base, it is time to return to Switzerland and the heart of our heritage — a small town called Schönenwerd.
In the same spirit of returning to origins, the Diana was one of Milan’s most renowned cinemas from 1925 to 1989. Now Bally’s Milanese home, the AW18 collection recovers the building’s natural essence, narrated through a film, directed by Baillie Walsh.

The Film is a journey grounded in the nostalgia of leaving and the anticipation of embarking on something new.
Friendship and youthful vigour are personified through vibrant recollections of a playful, carefree existence. Packing up a house full of everyday memories, ordinary moments that define and become more precious over time, they are moving forward; evolving from the richness and experiences of their past.
The Collection is strongly transeasonal, with unisex charm and a continued sense of fluidity, showcasing loose, unstructured outerwear, layered over knitwear and zip tops in youthful self- expression. It retains a fresh, young, sporty attitude with a synergy that follows on from SS18. Shoes play on the boundary between dress and casual wear. Accessories are easy to carry. Bally’s signifiers are interpreted throughout.
The Archive is reinterpreted. Inspired by an advertising image of two women dressed in a racing bird print, the motif is reflected throughout symbolizing the journey – both as a narrative for the collection and of Bally’s own. Logos are repeated throughout dating back to the early 1920s through to the ‘50s and ‘70s, revived from archival typography and graphics. The stripe signifier is reinterpreted in arrow form, inspired by Bally’s elastic ribbons from 1840s.
The Palette is vintage and muted, composed of jean, dusty rose, ochre, snuff, bone, and Bally red flashed with stronger tones of canary yellow, lobster, marine blue, and corvette red.
The Materials are a juxtaposition of suede, light double wool, and moleskin. Japanese washed cottons worn with shearling, light leather skins, and PVC (new for Bally). Macro graphic check, croco printed leather, and bird jacquard add texture.
THE BALLY WOMAN
She is an urban traveller with an unhindered spirit. Her style has ‘70s charm with a sporty ease and carefree attitude. She’s moving on; ready to define her next chapter.
HIGHLIGHTS
Shoes: The Super Smash, first seen in SS18’s retro sneaker collection, is the focus. It’s inspired by a slightly later model from 1978. The bestselling babouche theme is updated with a pointed toe last and fur trim which incorporates the Bally stripe as well as a new boot, which evolves the story of ‘Janelle’ – Bally’s renowned flat.
Bags: Cecyle is the new bag shape featuring the Bally stripe in arrow form in printed croco and with Bally stripe detail. The retro Slam collection of bowling bags feature in two sizes and bold colourways of lobster and jean with contrast piping. Sommet and B Turn styles receive sporty Updates.
Ready-To-Wear: Led by strong outerwear silhouettes including double breasted coats, hooded Duffles, and leather jackets alongside fur and shearling. High-waisted leather and flared trousers are worn with hooded tops and knitted turtlenecks. A-line leather and suede skirts are softened by silk-wool print pyjamas.
THE BALLY MAN
He is youthful and on the cusp of new adventure – eager for discovery. His style is defined by retro sportswear.
Highlights
Shoes: Eccentric derbys with exaggerated soles are featured alongside leather moccasins and crepe sole suede loafers and boots, presenting a diverse and technically dynamic collection.
Bags: The multi-pocketed and versatile Crew backpack is the focus alongside the updated sporty Slam collection and new Vita-Parcours inspired trio. The classic Sommet feels sportier in canvas matching the new duffle with leather detailing and archive Bally logo.
Ready-To-Wear: Outerwear leads the collection with bonded nappa leather jackets, techno fabric puffers, hooded cotton corduroy, single breasted coats in check and tweed, and a shearling bomber. Suede leather zip and crew necks are worn with wool belted trousers. Corduroy, cotton straight cut, and mix cotton jacquard tracksuit bottoms are complemented by suede knitwear and zip sweaters.
