Michael Kors Unveils 2019 Qixi Campaign
Michael Kors is pleased to announce the release of its 2019 Qixi campaign featuring brand ambassadors Leo Wu and Lareina Song wearing the special edition capsule collection in celebration of Qixi, a traditional Chinese festival celebrating romance and love, similar to Western Valentine’s Day.
Known in China as the nation’s “Little Brother”, Leo is one of the country’s most recognized young stars. The 19-year-old actor, who is currently enrolled in the Beijing Film Academy, has already won numerous awards and starred in various TV dramas, web dramas, films and action thrillers. “I am honored to work with Michael Kors,” says Wu. “It is synonymous with style, energy and fashion and is always optimistic.”
An acclaimed actress, Song has starred in numerous films and TV dramas since first appearing on screen at the age of seven. Most recently, Song was cast in the 2020 romance comedy drama Cupid’s Kitchen. She is also currently a student at the Beijing Film Academy. “It is my pleasure to collaborate with a brand that I personally love, and to share Michael Kors with more people who will fall in love with it,” says Song. “It is a young, chic and diverse brand with something for everyone. I’m happy to be a part of the Michael Kors family.”
This 2019 Qixi campaign will launch across digital and social channels on July 17 and will be celebrated at a brand event on July 26th in the Michael Kors Chengdu store. The images, shot by world-renowned Chinese photographer Kai Z Feng, convey the signature speed, energy and optimism of Michael Kors while highlighting the brand’s Qixi Graffiti print.
The print, which was created in celebration of Qixi, features hand-drawn hearts, stars and phrases like “XOXO,” “LOVE” and “KORS” rendered in brushstrokes of pink, red, black and white is splashed across a wide assortment of ready-to-wear, handbags, footwear, watches and jewelry. The bold new print is a nod to the nearly 2,000-year-old romantic Chinese legend, which is the inspiration behind the celebration of Qixi, while providing customers with the unique and graphic street style they love.
