Givenchy Presents The Shark Lock Boot Project
In an original creative experiment, the House invited four image-makers to reinterpret the iconic gaiter boot style as an art object in its own right.
In September 2024, Givenchy proudly presents the Shark Lock Boot Project, an artistic initiative that casts the house’s emblematic boot style in a whole new light. The results mark a new chapter for an enduring icon, which appears in turn through documentary or portrait-like images.
An extension of the House’s longstanding commitment to creativity and collaboration, the Shark Lock Boot Project was designed as a celebration of universality that nudges art and fashion beyond the classic confines of product-centric photography.
To bring the project to life, the Parisian house tapped the London-based creative director Jamie Reid to select four international tastemakers, who received carte blanche to reinterpret the Shark Lock Boot through their unique lens and creative atmosphere.
The guest artists and image makers for this debut edition were: Alessandro Furchino Capria, Takashi Homma, Sharna Osborne, and Jet Swan.
As diverse as it is commanding, the outcome — both still and video — highlights unexpected facets of the Shark Lock, from the leatherworking savoir-faire involved in the construction of one of the most distinctive boot styles in fashion.
Shark Lock boot statements include a high wedge boot in ivory leather with three two-tone silver and gold buckles; a knee-high boot with a slouchy allure, in black nappa leather or cheetah-effect pony with gold-tone Givenchy padlocks; a biker ankle boot in washed denim treatments that match the ready-to-wear offer, and a classic Shark Lock knee-high boot in python tinted in this season’s directional dark red.
Also featured in these images are some new iterations of some of the House’s star handbags, revisited in an array of noble materials, sizes, and seasonal colors and finishes to complement the House’s iconic boot style.
Standouts in the Fall-Winter 2024-2025 lineup feature a Shark Lock bucket bag style, in either slouchy black nappa leather with gold hardware or hazel suede trimmed with shearling and silver-finish hardware.
The iconic Antigona makes an appearance too, via the Antigona Lock Mini bag in ivory box leather with gold-finish hardware, in black box leather with either gold- or silver-finish hardware, and in a leather-free version in washed blue denim. An exclusive python iteration comes in this season’s rich burgundy hue. Though diminutive, the Antigona Lock Toy bag also makes a strong statement in cheetah-effect pony leather with black leather handles and gold hardware.
