Bottega Veneta Reopens Paris Flagship Store
The iconic location on Avenue Montaigne is the first store under the Creative Direction of Matthieu Blazy
Bottega Veneta unveiled its new Paris flagship store last September. The two-story space at 12 Avenue Montaigne will be the first Bottega Veneta store designed by Matthieu Blazy. The store combines Italian craftsmanship with a modernist sensibility, taking visitors on an imaginative journey through past, present, future, and beyond the world.
The near 800m2 space is defined by two essential materials: glass, native to Venice, and Italian walnut wood. Industrial square glass blocks are integrated into floor, ceiling, and walls, creating a grid geometry and diffuse, homogenous light throughout the store. Walnut wood panels frame the block and also distinguish the transitional spaces of a stairway and jewelry gallery corridor.
A play of volume and scale is present throughout the store, counterposing its allusions to cosmic exploration with cozy, intimate enclaves. The design centers on a luminous, open-plan retail space, interspersed by soft seating areas, and flanked by intimate VIP and dressing rooms. In the gently undulating gallery corridor, curvilinear forms and the unifying use of wood create an environment of quiet privacy.
Throughout the store, the brand’s inextricable connection to craft finds expression in one-of-a-kind furniture and fixtures, including bespoke wood and glass hanging rails, hand-cast by Venetian artisans. Soft textures are found in leather seating and wool carpets, nodding to the sensoriality and invention of Bottega Veneta collections, while modular shelving units build a sense of discovery and play.
Interaction with the original design and the handmade begins upon entry, where the front door features a one-of-a-kind glass handle by the Venice-based Japanese glass artist, Ritsue Mishima. Further brass hooks and handles throughout the store pick up on Blazy’s Drop motif, while single Drop elements on store mirrors create rippling reflections suggestive of Venice’s aquatic cityscape.
Launching with the complete Winter 23 collection, 12 Avenue Montaigne will house all Bottega Veneta product categories, as well as a new in-store personalization service for select leather goods.
In the Philippines, Bottega Veneta is exclusively distributed by Stores Specialists, Inc.,and is located at Greenbelt 4 and Shangri-La Plaza Mall East Wing. Visit www.ssilife.com.ph or follow @ssilifeph on Instagram for more information.
