Let's Dance

All arts, including dance, evoke an exact image of the era in which they were created and fashion is no different. Indeed, a desire for freedom is more evident than ever before in our attempt to face everyday life with a new enthusiasm and, at the same time, to elevate this through beautiful practices.

French actor and director Jean-Louis Barrault believed that “Dancing means fighting against everything that holds us back, everything that brings us down (…), it means using our bodies to discover the very essence and spirit of life; it means making physical contact with freedom.” In addition to being a means of creative expression, dance can also be seen therefore as a moving frame of mind, a liberating act and a universal language. Exactly like fashion.

Which is why Ferragamo unveils Let’s Dance: a capsule collection of shoes that combine lightness and comfort and have been crafted in a range of different designs and styles to bring a new exuberance.

The launch of the capsule will include a short film that depicts a symbolic dialogue between dance and the Ferragamo shoe collection, and this is directed by American director Danielle Lessovitz, one of the most celebrated film directors at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival. Embodying the spirit of the modern woman, each with their own personality, style and individual challenges, three contemporary dancers (Anita Lorusso, Naomi Weijand and Tania Dimbelolo) present a series of ensemble and solo performances (with the help of Let’s Dance light-as-air shoes) and thereby transcend to a point in which reality disappears and becomes an escape and a liberation, before ultimately returning to a re-examined, optimistic present.

The freedom to express oneself is the essence of the Let’s Dance collection. A line of shoes for every look and for every moment of the day, featuring beautiful colours ranging from Black to Sunshine Yellow and from Lipstick Red to Gold, Silver and Orange with dégradé effect, micro-rhinestone detail and glitter to create a symphony of light with every step.

The Let’s Dance range includes: ballet flats with a metal buckle and logo; an ultra-soft, lightweight lace-up crafted from nappa leather with elastic inserts for extreme flexibility; a Gancini moccasin in the same style; a sandal with refracted high heel, inspired by a model from the archives, and upper in tiny geometrically woven strips of leather, also available with a lower heel with fine ankle strap; a pump with chunky heel and lasered upper; and finally, a soft boot in nappa with refracted block heel.

The short film will be accompanied by a series of photos that together will form the Let’s Dance campaign on social media and ferragamo.com. Let’s Dance will also be a dance challenge for the Ferragamo community and the brand’s new TikTok channel will open with the Ferragamo Dance Challenge. From mid-June, anyone can follow the tutorials by the three dancers, try out the different choreographies, film themselves and post using the hashtag #FerragamoDanceChallenge. The best videos will be published on the brand’s TikTok and Instagram accounts.

Some famous friends of the brand will also be putting themselves to the test with the same choreographies in what will become a series of mini-films.

The Let’s Dance capsule will be available this Autumn Winter 2021 in Ferragamo boutiques and online.
