As we continue to face uncertainty in these challenging times, the SSI Group aims to bring forth help to those who are most vulnerable and in need—giving light and hope amidst the darkness and difficulties our fellow Filipinos are facing due to COVID-19.
Together with Security Bank and RCBC Bankard, the SSI Group is able to provide support and assistance in these trying times through a pledge of donation when you shop at participating SSI Group stores from November 1 to December 31, 2020. For every P5,000 and P20,000 purchase using your Security Bank credit card, P100 and P500 respectively will be donated to Security Bank’s charity partner Philippine Red Cross’ COVID-19 Samaritan Program, which aims to support individuals by covering the P4,000 processing fee for the RT-PCR swab tests and other related fees.
From November 3 to December 31, 2020, every P5,000, P25,000 and P50,000 purchase using your RCBC credit card, P100, P500 and P1,000 respectively will be shared to Gawad Kalinga’s Kusina ng Kalinga, a program that provides healthy meals to children in communities, in public schools, in the streets, and in conflict or disaster-stricken areas to end hunger and malnutrition.
The Philippine Red Cross’ COVID-19 Samaritan Program
During this unprecedented time across the world and as we face challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Red Cross as a humanitarian organization has always been at the forefront during natural and manmade disasters, armed conflicts, and other crises and emergencies where they consistently maintain a strong, visible presence.
The Samaritan Fund has been long established and recognized to serve the most vulnerable and the poorest of the poor for the various services of the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) including blood, first aid, dialysis treatment, and recently, for RT-PCR testing. Each service has its own Samaritan Fund. The fund is a resource pooled from numerous charitable organizations, private sectors, and generous individual donors who expressed their desire to sponsor an individual who cannot afford to avail the services of the PRC.
As operations for the testing centers began, a huge number of people showed interest to get tested with the Red Cross but couldn’t afford the P4,000 rate for a swab test. The COVID-19 Samaritan Fund partners with generous donors to sponsor the swab test of those who do not have the resources to do so. The criteria for COVID-19 Samaritan Fund Beneficiaries are:
• Indigent
• Can be from the most vulnerable sectors including:
1. Pregnant Women
2. Senior Citizens
3. Persons with pre-existing health conditions
The program is currently available in their PLMC Mandaluyong Swabbing Center and Molecular Laboratory. They effectively mobilize their resources and manpower in order to swiftly respond to affected communities, especially those who are vulnerable and marginalized.

Kusina ng Kalinga, Gawad Kalinga
Through Kusina ng Kalinga, Gawad Kalinga is able to build caring communities for our young. It is where lunchboxes or plates don’t just contain meals, but also carry the commitment to care together until no child is left hungry. And as for the kids, each meal builds hope—by ending their hunger today, they can start imagining tomorrow. Kusina ng Kalinga kitchens are also hubs for bayanihan, where parents, volunteers, teachers, school and community administrators, local government units, private individuals, organizations, and corporate partners are all essential for the Kusina ng Kalinga model to work.
