Tory Burch Resort 2019 Collection

For Resort 2019, I was inspired by all the things I love: Stripes done in different styles, including a 3-D version in pleats with contrast-color edging. Longer hemlines, some asymmetrical. Relaxed silhouettes. The natural beauty of combining a simple knit and a skirt, a clean tunic and a pant. There’s a nod to my favorite book, The Little Prince, by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, in a watercolor print we have named “Daydream.” We updated the classics with special details — like the perfect white cotton shirt, now with a scalloped or elongated collar, or an easy denim dress, with a ruffled placket. Accessories continue the less-is-more mood: easy totes, flat sandals, and lemon- and clementine-shaped pendants.” — Tory Burch

Silhouettes: Relaxed volume and elongated proportions set a laid-back tone for the season, as seen in skirts and dresses with longer hemlines as well as slouchy pants and pajama dressing. An unstructured trench, sporty jackets, and roomy knits round out the collection for a mood that is effortless and easy.

Palette: Neutrals, from black, white, stone and agave, balance a spectrum of blues — pale mist, cerulean, and navy — and joyful pops of pink and gold.

Prints & Patterns: Stripes of every stripe: Breton, awning, barn stripes, and embroidered stripes. A graphic windowpane check carries nostalgic appeal while a charming watercolor print, inspired by The Little Prince, has painterly borders.

Fabrications: Materials range from cotton voile and military canvas to satin and shearling. There are plays of texture throughout with embroidered embellishments, soft pleats, and subtle smocking. Ruffle and lace accents bring femininity to the season.

Accessories: The casual vibe continues with accessories. Chelsea boots and double-strap slides are finished with a bold chain detail that carries through to a classic saddlebag; easy totes are accented with a leather star charm and wide-brimmed straw hats, with stripe details. Enameled-brass pendants in the shape of lemons and clementines lend a touch of humor and whimsy.
