Rising In Hollywood: Salvatore Ferragamo Trifolio Bag

Salvatore Ferragamo is proud to present Rising in Hollywood - a portfolio of four short films dedicated to showcasing the insights, emotions and ambitions of a new wave of female creatives and entrepreneurs. The campaign stars a diverse group of women; Sinead Bovell, Bonnie Chen, Cuba Tornado Scott, and Gillian Zinser. What they share is a common attraction to the creative gravity exerted by Hollywood; its openness, its possibilities, and its potential for the realization of dreams.

Salvatore Ferragamo has an authentic connection to Hollywood that dates back to the earliest years of the movie industry: in 1923 the young Italian shoemaker opened his first ever store in Santa Barbara, California, the Hollywood Boot Shop. He was soon being commissioned by costume departments and movie stars to create shoes worn both on screen and off. His client book grew to include Greta Garbo, Mary Pickford, Marlene Dietrich, Bette Davis, Rita Hayworth, Ava Gardner, Marilyn Monroe, Ingrid Bergman, Audrey Hepburn, Lauren Bacall and many other trailblazing women in film.

Rising in Hollywood reaffirms a relationship that spans the original golden age of cinema to the new golden age of streaming. Ferragamo’s Creative Director Paul Andrew recruited the Italian-born, US-residing film-maker Francesco Carrozzini (BeFREE Agency) to cast and shoot this portfolio of exciting new Hollywood talent. Carrozzini said: “Rising in Hollywood focuses on a group of strong and diverse women who are film industry insiders and who take us to their places around the city as they share their experiences of being professionally raised in this unique place. These are all women who have accomplished their dream of working in film and who strive constantly to improve themselves: but what is their next step?”

Co-starring alongside Bovell, Chen, Scott and Zinser are two emerging forces in the Salvatore Ferragamo portfolio. The Ferragamo Pump is a reworked and modernized upgrade on a house classic, while the new Trifolio bag offers 21st century versatility expressed via Ferragamo’s artisanal expertise. Both are intimately linked to the creative lineage that connects Salvatore Ferragamo back to its earliest incarnation as the “Shoemaker of Dreams”.

Chapter Two: Trifolio

Salvatore Ferragamo presents the Trifolio, a new family of bags that is diverse in size, shape, color and fabrication but which shares three key characteristics. Firstly, each Trifolio bag consists of three distinct compartments, each with its own closure. Secondly, each Trifolio bag bears the unmistakable clasp hardware that is the Gancini, the enduring signature of our house. And thirdly, each bag has been hand made by expert Salvatore Ferragamo artisans in Italy, ensuring a build and quality of finish that is unparalleled. Put all this together and you have the Trifolio - an arresting and versatile bag that will enhance the day-to-day experience of the modern on-the-go woman and look great doing it.

The Trifolio is a concept I had been thinking about for a while - a bag divided into three compartments to make for easy organization and more efficient use of space - and which I first introduced for the Pre-Spring 2020 collection. The feedback from our customers has been incredibly positive: they’ve encouraged us to expand the concept into different sizes and bag-typologies. What we have learned is that women really appreciate carrying a bag that looks elevated and fashion forward, but which also offers functional versatility. With the Trifolio you can organize what you need for the day in an efficient and useful way: maybe you’re carrying a contract for work, a battery for your phone, a purse, a set of clothes for yoga class - with the Trifolio you can put all these elements - or any you choose - in the same bag, but also individually packed. It turns what might be a two-bag situation into a one bag situation - and that’s what our customers are saying they love about it, along with the design of the bags themselves, of course!
— Paul Andrew, Creative Director

For Spring/Summer 2020, Paul Andrew has fully integrated the Trifolio into the chorus of Salvatore Ferragamo’s output - and its contribution is set to continue. Styles include roomy totes, square day-bags, hand-sized evening bags in the finest calfskin and nappa. All very different and all very useful, the Trifolio is a three-in-one home run.

In the Philippines, Salvatore Ferragamo is exclusively distributed by Stores Specialists, Inc., and is located at Greenbelt 4, Rustan’s Shangri-La, Rustan’s Makati and Solaire Resort & Casino.
