Met Gala 2019

As the most extravagant and talked about fashion event of the year, it was no surprise to see so many SSI brands displayed at this year’s MET Gala, where celebrities donned their exclusive and most avant garde ensembles.

A vast number of celebrities wore SALVATORE FERRAGAMO designs on the night.

Cole Sprouse wore a three-button oxblood red wool gabardine tailored sleeveless suit with Ferragamo floral raffia thread embroidery worn over an oat satin shirt with matching Ferragamo floral raffia thread embroidery and vicuña leather shoe lace worn as a tie paired with orange suede chelsea boots with gold hardware detail heel. His date, Lili Reinhart wore an aqua silk faille ensemble with tailored track shorts and oversized campana sleeves with silver metallic stiletto heel sandals and silver glitter minaudière. 

Meanwhile, Taron Egerton donned a shawl collar evening jacket with multicolor raffia and tubular pearl embroidery worn over an oat satin shirt and vicuña leather shoe lace worn as a tie paired with black leather gold Gancini hardware chelsea boots. Pom Klementieff wore a agenta double-breasted suit and ensemble mauve silk cape with oversized neck bow detail paired with rose satin stingray and gold metal minaudière and gold stiletto metallic foil leather pumps.

As a pair, Chiwetel Ejiofor wore a black wool peak lapel silk jacquard jacket with Gancini vertical chain link pattern complimented by a silver lurex Gancini detail reflected in the reimagined bow tie made of ostrich feathers in silver grey, as well as a wool tuxedo pant paired with patent leather oxfords with grosgrain ribbon laces and pearl nugget handcrafted nuggets. His date, Frances Aaternir, wore a silver foil leather column gown and hand dyed aqua ostrich feather shoulder cape paired with black satin and patent leather stiletto sandals and silver metallic mini ‘boxyz’ bag. Meanwhile, Solange wore a python long sleeve bodysuit with extended lapels and dropped shoulders paired with thigh-high python ‘F wedge’ boots.

Elizabeth Debicki donned a peony silk faille oversized bow empire dress gown paired with peony silk faille kitten heel mules with crystal hand embroidery and black satin clutch with silver Gancini Closure. Hero Fiennes-Tiffin, on the other hand, wore an evening overall worn as pants cut in black washed duchess satin with tailored unlined jacket cut in black Scottish wool and satin details worn over a shade pleated poplin tailored shirt.

CARTIER was pleased to announce that the following attendees wore Cartier to the Met Gala.

Lily Collins debuted the Cartier Magnitude High Jewelry Collection, including the Cartier Magnitude High Jewelry necklace (with platinum, emeralds, rock crystal, onyx, black lacquer, and diamonds), the Cartier Magnitude High Jewelry earrings (with platinum, emeralds, rock crystal, onyx, and diamonds), and the Pluie de Cartier ring (with 18k white gold and diamonds).

Rami Malek donned a Panthère de Cartier brooch (with 18k white gold, emeralds, onyx, and diamonds) and the large model of the Cartier Tank MC watch (with steel and leather). Riccardo Tisci dressed BURBERRY’s guests at The Met this year, revealing exquisite and unique ensembles.

Anok Yai wore a delicate sheer tulle dress hand-adorned with a cloud of ivory feathers, worn with an animal-print ponyskin clutch with hand-embroidered crystals and matching mules. Fran Summers wore a backless gown sculpted from fluid black jersey with hand-gathered details, worn with metallic leather pumps with black suede and crystal fringe details.

Irina Shayk wore a plunging gown in midnight blue velvet, articulated with draped sleeves and crystal and chain pendant, worn with a triple-stud clutch, gloves and sandals – all in midnight blue velvet. Irina also wore Burberry beauty. Mariacarla Boscono wore a gold open-back gown embroidered with hundreds of metallic paillettes, and finished with hand-gathered details, worn with gold snakeskin-effect leather cage sandals. Naomi Scott wore an intricate hand-linked chainmail dress with crystal embroidery and a plume of feathers, worn with a black silk satin panelled corset, black grain de poudre wool tuxedo trousers and black satin mules. Ezra Miller wore a black pinstriped wool English-fit suit, reimagined with an exaggerated cape detail and overlaid with a crystal-studded cage corse, worn with a white cotton poplin dress shirt, personalised cufflinks and crystal-embroidered monochrome leather wingtip brogues.

Pedro Pascal wore an English-fit tuxedo in beige wool with silk satin lapels, worn with a white cotton poplin dress shirt, white silk bowtie and patent leather dress shoes. Stephan James wore an English-fit tuxedo in green velvet with silk grosgrain lapels, worn with a white cotton poplin dress shirt with embroidered double collar, green silk grosgrain tie with hand-embroidered crystals and personalised cufflinks.

COACH announced that actor, producer and global face of Coach menswear Michael B.

Jordan and musician Maggie Rogers wore custom looks by the brand to the 2019 Met Gala. Each custom look was designed by Stuart Vevers, Creative Director of Coach, who attended the event with Jordan and Rogers.

Jordan wore a custom Coach single breasted wool barathea tuxedo coat with a satin chest piece and Wild Beast sequin embroidery and tuxedo pants with Wild Beast sequin embroidery. Jordan also wore Coach zip boots with embroidered and sequin detailing. Rogers wore a custom Coach dusty rose printed georgette pleated gown with metal pavé hand embroidered details. Rogers’ gown was complimented by vintage inspired Coach multi-metallic sandals with beaded detailing and a mini Coach Riley bag with horse and carriage hardware and accordion detail.

THE HOUSE OF GIVENCHY was pleased to announce athlete Maria Sharapova and actress Gal Gadot wore Givenchy Haute Couture Spring Summer 2019 outfits, designed by Clare Waight Keller, to the Met Gala.

Sharapova wore a short t-shirt in guipure embroidered with textured flowers in black patent leather, long dress in ecru tulle and black silk cady embroidered with a degrade of red and black crystals, black ankle strap high sandals in patent leather. Gal Gadot wore an optical white cape dress in lacquered guipure, black bodysuit in silk knit, black high boots in lacquered guipure, headband in silver-finished metal with crystals and pearls.

ALEXANDER MCQUEEN proudly designed Bea Carrozzini’s ensemble for the Met Gala, donning a custom made black wool silk tuxedo with deep red silk taffeta rose drape and black satin evening clutch with blooming rose jeweled embellishment.

GUCCI dressed a plethora of stars for the Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, including Gala co-chair Harry Styles, Dakota Johnson, Kiki Layne, Jared Leto and more.

Tommy and Dee Hilfiger attended the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Benefit to celebrate the opening of ‘Camp: Notes on Fashion’. Guests seated at Tommy Hilfiger’s table included Dee Hilfiger, TOMMY HILFIGER global brand ambassadors Zendaya and Lewis Hamilton, supermodel Winnie Harlow, TV personality and entrepreneur Kris Jenner, TV personality Corey Gamble, image architect Law Roach, singer-songwriter Thalia and music executive Tommy Mottola. “It is always an exciting process to create designs that are inspired by some of the most defining moments in fashion”, said Tommy Hilfiger. “You cannot ask for a more memorable evening than the Met Gala to see these designs come to life”.

Tommy Hilfiger wore a navy blue custom white tie tuxedo with silk grosgrain lapels and flared, high waisted pants decorated with rhinestone star motifs, over a classic white pleated dress shirt, large black satin bow tie, black silk grosgrain waistcoat and glitter stacked Chelsea boots. Dee Hilfiger wore a blue beaded slip dress with rhinestone star motifs and asymmetric fringed hem paired with a red and white striped shimmering fringed bolero and thigh high striped boots.

Zendaya wore an animatronic crystal grey silk evening gown constructed to enable both visual and physical transformations of the silhouette from understated to dramatic, culminating with the gown evolving to the color blue for its final look, along with clear high heeled pumps. Law Roach wore a long hooded, wide cuffed, double breasted peak lapel evening coat in powder blue silk satin, along with a corseted waistcoat with black silk satin lapel, cuff and buttons, high waisted flared trousers with box pleat inserts in the front leg, a white evening shirt and extravagant fuchsia pink bow tie.

Winnie Harlow wore a bejeweled tulle and silk organza gown, embellished with a cascade of cabochon colored crystals set in a lingerie inspired design, with a sparkling train of crystal highlights under a black chubby feather bolero. Lewis Hamilton wore a single breasted, three button, embroidered Nehru evening suit in black and silver tones with a black velvet collar and cuffs, over a white scarf collared evening shirt.

Kris Jenner wore a dark blue silk, wide-legged jumpsuit with sparkling star detail on the left leg and a corset top centered with a star motif, along with a white and silver full length tulle opera coat with dramatic shoulder detail. Corey Gamble wore a single breasted tuxedo with wide moiré silk lapels and star button details, over a flared, satin striped trouser, white pleated evening shirt, navy bow tie and cummerbund. Thalia wore a silver duchess satin one-shoulder gown embellished with a crystal comet star design, sapphire crystal encrusted spiral collar and thigh high slit.

TORY BURCH wore a custom “unfinished” muslin and organza tiered dress with sequin flower and safety pin details to the Met Gala, having also designed other gorgeous ensembles for the night.

Kerry Washington wore a custom ivory reverse silk charmeuse tank top with exaggerated blush silk organza sleeves and skirt with Sterling silver ring, featuring “Negativity is Noise” wording. The saying—embroidered in silver thread as well as spelled out in jet crystals—is based on a saying Tory’s parents often said growing up, encouraging her to believe in herself.

Ella Balinska wore a custom spray-painted silver degradé-sequined bodysuit and pleated silk taffeta tiered ruffle skirt. Hikari Mori wore a custom one-shouldered pleated silver lamé georgette gown with black velvet ties.
