Kate Spade New York Partners With Cleo Wade To Launch A Limited-Edition Collaboration For International Women's Day 2020

Kate Spade New York announces an exclusive partnership with author and community builder Cleo Wade for International Women’s Day in March 2020.  The partnership celebrates the role that self-love plays in the empowerment journey of women and girls, with a limited-edition capsule collection for the Spring 2020 season.

The capsule collection, which consists of two totes, each with a removable pouch, and two fold-over pouches, was designed in partnership with the Kate Spade New York on purpose program, based in Masoro, Rwanda, which strives to transform communities by employing and empowering its primary agents of change: women. The Cleo Wade x on purpose product, along with an exclusive sweatshirt style, feature handwritten self-affirmations and motivational mantras written by Cleo Wade, such as “Whatever you do, do it with love.”

This collaboration has been a dream come to life for me. I am so proud that we were able to enter into every single part of this process with such thoughtfulness and intention. These products are a reflection of endless hours of care, creativity, and consideration from the Kate Spade team in New York City, the incredible female makers at Abahizi in Rwanda, and myself. I am so excited to share them with women everywhere.
— Cleo Wade

In 2012, Kate Spade New York launched the on purpose program with a production facility in Masoro, called Abahizi Rwanda, to produce a line of handbags and small leather goods aligned with the brand’s commitment to empowering women and girls to be the heroines of their own stories. on purpose product is designed to fit with the brand’s seasonal collections in Kate Spade New York stores across the globe.  Abahizi Rwanda, an independent, Rwandan-owned, certified corp handbag manufacturer, employs over 230 women from the local community with full-time employment, providing the women with competitive wages, a suite of health benefits for themselves and their households, access to life skills education programs and more.

We are honored to partner with Cleo Wade to launch a very special capsule collection for International Women’s Day 2020. Exploring the theme of self-love, and letting that love radiate into the world, is the key, empowering theme of the collection. At Kate Spade New York, we believe that when women express self-love, we in turn are uniquely positioned to impact our communities. We are all the heroines of our own stories, and we’re stronger together there is beauty and power in a community of individual female voices. The Cleo Wade collaboration is an homage to that.
— Nicola Glass, Kate Spade New York Creative Director

The Cleo Wade collection will launch in Kate Spade New York stores in March 2020 and will retail from $128-228.
