Sustainability: Furla Has Obtained ISO 14001 Certification

Furla is pleased to announce that Furla Progetto Italia* has obtained ISO 14001 certification for the Environmental Management System. This accreditation establishes the requirements for an environmental management system and supports companies to classify, manage, monitor, and control their impacts.

This milestone is in addition to:

• The Occupational Health and Safety Management System certified according to the ISO 45001:2018, which has been in place at all Italian Furla sites and stores since 2019.

• The ISO 14067 certification, which defines the principles, requirements, and guidelines for the quantification of carbon footprint of services, specifically for Furla’s e-commerce shipments.

This important achievement proves how Furla is committed to reducing its environmental impact. Furla Progetto Italia has been developed with a holistic approach, aimed at minimizing the effects of the industrial activities on the Chianti area. In this newborn site, our management is constantly researching for innovative and sustainable solutions for our products.
— Giovanna Furlanetto, President of Fondazione Furla

As part of its Sustainability 2030 roadmap, Furla is working on a strategy, which will result in specific projects and targets from year to year, with the goal of contributing to the fashion industry's efforts to produce in less impactful ways on the environment and people. The roadmap will be articulated into three main pillars, which will help us achieve important results in environmental stewardship, social engagement, responsible sourcing, and ecological innovation, with positive impacts for us, our products, and our communities.

Among the first tangible actions carried out by Furla is to offset the CO2 emitted from e-commerce operations by purchasing "green credits" to support a carbon offset project. The main objective of this mission is to engage and help local communities in preserving more than 250,000 hectares of forest from deforestation, thus contributing to the protection of a biodiversity-rich basin on the one hand, and to the creation of job opportunities and sustainable development of one of Tanzania's most remote villages on the other.

*A hub for creativity, production, research, experimentation and education, Furla Progetto Italia is Furla’s new complex located in the heart of the Chianti area, at Tavarnelle Val di Pesa (Florence), where Effeuno S.r.l., the manufacturing platform that Furla acquired in 2018, is already located.  Spanning over a surface of 43,000-square-meter, of which 18,200 mq built, Furla Progetto Italia, conceived by Udine’s Geza studio, winner in 2019 and in 2017 of the American Architecture Prize (Architectural Design / Industrial Buildings category) and of the Architizer A+Awards Prize (Glazing Systems & Product category). creates a new, innovative, and harmonious relationship between industrial architecture and nature, resulting in an environment celebrating individuals’ well-being in the workspace.
