DIESEL is proud to announce that, with its Fall/Winter 2020 collection, the offer of more responsible products continues to grow, with more available garments produced under the company’s “For Responsible Living” Sustainability Strategy.

Diesel’s “For Responsible Living” strategy, launched in January of this year, is a commitment to taking action for the benefit of current and future generations, and ensuring Diesel’s continuing success in a changing world. The strategy is based on four key pillars and commitments named: Be The Alternative, Stand For The Planet, Celebrate Individuality and Promote Integrity. It is a dedicated and comprehensive blueprint, which will further integrate sustainability-focused initiatives across all the company’s business activities.

And it all started with DIESEL’s iconic denim, in the Spring/Summer 2020 collection, Diesel introduced a handful of new denim styles developed in line with the brand’s recent commitment to a future focused on sustainability, one that is more respectful of the environment but still always strong on the brand’s DNA.

For the current season, the “Respectful Denim with DIESEL DNA” features 5 denim models produced with DIESEL’s high-level environmental standards embedded in our Green Label. The aesthetic is similar to what our customers are used to; the jeans are a classic, iconic Premium DIESEL silhouette in vintage washes, some with laser-etched scratches and abrasions. These garments have been created using innovative techniques that significantly reduce the use of water and chemicals during the production process. Every pair is treated with a minimal amount of GreenScreen certified chemicals, and the water used is reduced by up to 40% compared to conventional methods.

But now, more responsible practices have been applied to further product categories, including short and long-sleeved t-shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies. Made from a hybrid textile of organic cotton and recycled polyester, the recycled fibers come from post- and pre-consumer waste—think used plastic bottles and factory waste.

Available for both women and men, some include a graphic of recycling arrows—now reshaped to form the letter “D.” DIESEL has also introduced Western flannel shirts made of entirely organic cotton that's grown without the use of synthetic chemicals or genetically modified seeds. Diesel does not focus only on cotton fabrics but the collection includes two double-breasted menswear coats, one short and one long, which have been made with 75% recycled wool and features notch lapels and zipped cuffs. The felted wool-blend fabric has been sourced from the Italian district of Prato, renowned for its regenerated textiles.

All garments delivered under Diesel’s “For Responsible Living” Sustainability Strategy will feature a specialized Green Label, that identifies those products which respect specific standards in relation to the material and/ or treatment used. DIESEL is committed to increasing its responsible practices in order to minimize its impacts on the environment, and for the next Spring/Summer 2021, Diesel is committed to building on this journey even further, so stay tuned and watch out for the products marked with Diesel Green Label.
