Cozy Glamour: The Fall 2020 Michael Kors Collection Runway Show

Cozy glamour was the theme of Michael Kors’ Fall 2020 runway show at the American Stock Exchange in Manhattan. From the show space, which was transformed into an abstract country house, to a musical performance by Orville Peck, the show immersed guests in the season’s inspiration: relaxed chic with an urban sense of polish.

I think we can all relate to feeling a little too plugged in sometimes. This collection explores that idea of getting away from it all, of taking some time to escape into nature and refuel. And of course, since we can’t all move to the countryside, we looked at how you can take that feeling of privacy and coziness and imbue it with the polish and luxury you need in an urban environment.

After arriving at the American Stock Exchange, guests were invited to step inside a special photo set that placed fans in a peaceful countryside on a road to a private escape. Inside, the runway show venue had been transformed into a deconstructed country house using floating wood walls and window frames. Echoing the natural theme, some of the clothing shown was made with recycled or reclaimed materials and yarns, while others featured responsibly sourced fibers. Following the show, the wood will be donated to Materials for the Arts, NYC’s largest creative reuse center.

A musical performance by Orville Peck, who was dressed in Michael Kors Collection, set the tone as models—from Bella Hadid and Kaia Gerber to Adut Akech and Freja Beha Erichsen—walked the runway in a haze of mist and spotlights. Peck, country music’s newest outlaw, released his debut album, Pony, in March 2019 to critical acclaim via SubPop Records.
