Bally Spring Summer 2020

Bally At Home

For Spring/Summer 2020, Bally presents a modern notion of home with a dynamic mise-en-scène, where architecture, artistry and nature converge. Beyond a physical space, “Bally At Home” represents an intimate idea - one where memories lie, everything begins and hope springs eternal. The continual interaction between design and the environment remains a key pillar of Bally’s foundation. Within this purposeful tableau, the collection, entitled “Graphic by Nature”, comes to life.

A color palette inspired by the natural world recalls the sunrise and sunset (best viewed from the mountain tops), with innovative dégradé treatments. Unexpected pop art references and archival graphics are further reinterpreted, honoring Bally’s heritage of design. As an architect of leather, a legacy of craftsmanship comes through meticulously constructed footwear, accessories and outerwear.

Here, quality meets clean lines, giving way to a sense of ease and elegance. Importantly, timelessness is celebrated over the transient.

Bally Woman

She understands that less is more. Seeing both the forest and the trees, she runs through fields  of wildflowers, always stylish, whether barefoot or in archival heels. Worldly, conscious and smart,  she’s unafraid and self assured.

FOOTWEAR

A new kitten heel pays homage to mid-century modern design on the graphic Callie shoe with asymmetrical lines and a chiseled toe. The Alexa boot gets an artful update in suede on contrast leather. An archive B-chain pattern adorns Bally classics including the Janelle and Heimberg sneaker.

BAGS

New dimensions in Celestine styles confirm Bally’s commitment to the distinguished Cecyle keyhole  hardware. Dual sizes come with a top handle and an additional crossbody strap, woven with a silk B-chain scarf. The Bally Sommet satchel caters to the workday with a double-top handle in embossed crocodile leather.

READY-TO-WEAR

Craft takes center stage with classic tailoring for women. Innovative and modern pieces aren’t tied to a specific era or trend, but created to last and endure. Advanced fabric printing and placing techniques, as well as innovative leatherwork including hand-lacquered finishes and intarsia, make for staple wardrobe pieces and versatile day-to-night wear. Symmetrical micro-patterns on silk reference the Bally Wing signifier.

Bally Man

He doesn’t try to stand out, but he always manages to turn heads. Hungry for new horizons, he’s partial  to the permanent impermanence of time’s passing. A passionate adventurer, he values simplicity, integrity, and above all else, truth.

FOOTWEAR

Summer hiking shoes are updated with a low-top style in spring weight fabrics and technical cord laces, while the Vegas and Bienne sneakers make casual cameos. The Courmayeur capsule bridges form, function and style with a hybrid offering incorporating Vibram grip soles and a waterproof finish.

BAGS

Practical and versatile bags, like the Hawke and Ray backpacks (the latter of which features a new Bally mountain goat logo) remain perfect for everyday exploration in bold sizes and proportions.

READY-TO-WEAR

Bally’s artisanal approach to each garment brings sensibility to S/S 2020 with a versatile, yet polished  aesthetic. Outwear is geared for a range of continental temperatures and anchors the collection, whether a fluid gabardine trench, paired with a peccary leather belt and bull leather trousers with split seams, or a yarn-died, enzyme-washed bomber jacket worn with a 12-gauge cotton ribbed knit.

COLOR

With dégradé color imitating the hues of the sky, S/S 2020’s palette is heavily inspired by nature, including core neutrals like stone, taupe, clay brown, mandarin orange, jade, army green, indigo, navy and classic Bally red.

TEXTURES & MATERIALS

Pleating, top-stitching and micro-waffle weaves feature alongside bonded, laser-patented and stretch leathers, hand-lacquered dégradé suedes, silk twills, crepes and jacquards, parachute cottons, lightweight wools and shaved shearling.

The Installation

Design duo Antonio Monfreda and Patrick Kinmonth, of Kinmonth+Monfreda Studio, explore the dimensions of what it means to be “at home”, in their second installation conceived for Bally. Stepping into the naturally-lit space, which was thoughtfully designed with landscaping in mind, elicits a welcome calm and curiosity.

Discovering this familiar place, a directional passageway connects intimate spaces, where inhabitants go about their daily lives. Sounds and scenes capture ordinary moments; reading a classic book, playing board games or sipping tea. An unexpected beauty arises from this multi-dimensional theater where women and men, dressed in Bally’s S/S 2020 collection - formed from quality, craft-made leathers across outerwear, shoes and accessories - interact as residents within their conversant surroundings, shielded from the spectacle associated with the outside world. In the orchard, a couple of gardeners patiently tend the land, symbolizing a ritual of nourishment and growth. Here we stand at peace, in reverence to time and nature.

In the Philippines, BALLY is exclusively distributed by Stores Specialists, Inc., and is located at Greenbelt 5, Rustan’s Makati, Shangri-La Plaza, Newport Mall, Power Plant Mall, and City of Dreams.
