Unveiling a collaboration with a unique voice—think independent, street, and global. Under the creative direction of Sandra Choi, the elegance of Jimmy Choo takes a leftfield swerve and unites with Virgil Abloh’s cult fashion label Off-White™, bringing together a fresh aesthetic to luxury footwear. Twenty years since her passing, the late Diana, Princess of Wales makes for the most modern muse for the Off-White™ Spring-Summer 2018 collection whilst also being one of the first Jimmy Choo devotees. A wake-up call for classicists, the nine shoe silhouettes complement the ready-to wear looks that celebrate the Princess’ style, imbued with Abloh’s aesthetic that will speak to 2017’s tastemakers. Her signature nineties looks are reconfigured for today’s princesses, and also make for fantastical runway propositions that comprise conceptual plastics, tulles, and explosive hothouse florals whilst all cleverly grounded in reality. Exclusive packaging ensures these exciting new footwear designs are as collectable as they are wearable.
“To collaborate with a brand like Off-White™ allows Jimmy Choo to explore a new avenue and take part in a different conversation. I love to mix it up by getting together with a different creative mind identifying our synergies and combining our DNA to create a beautiful and surprising collection with unexpected links to the roots of our brand.”—Sandra Choi, Creative Director, Jimmy Choo
“Creative dreams were fulfilled when able to combine the young exuberance of Off-White™ and the storied elegance of Jimmy Choo.” —Virgil Abloh, Creative Director, Off-White™
This marks the inaugural time that Jimmy Choo has collaborated on a commercial shoe collection with a ready-to-wear designer.
CLAIRE & FRANCES
Jimmy Choo’s classic styles are reconceptualized with twisted practicality and steely femininity. The modern princess’ ‘glass slipper’ uses the iconic Lance shoe as the reference, reworked into a new style, wrapped in unexpected softly ruched PVC. Leg-lengthening structured knee-boots come encased in PVC or a tornado of tulle. Chisel-toe satin pumps are also enrobed in plastic presented with a high heel and directional square toe.
The feminine au courant bow was a Sloane Ranger signifier but now comes XXL. Capturing the non-precious, devil-may-care attitude of the new luxury, an ultra-refined stiletto heel gives the illusion of extra height, whilst the fluid bow dances from day to night.
The grandeur of the tiara leaves the safety deposit box. Moving from regal heads to dancing toes, the party is the true place it shines, with a cascade of tear-drop crystals, adorning white or black satin pointy-toe shoes.
Off-WhiteTM c/o Jimmy Choo gives the household staple a high-fashion makeover. High heel and flat square-toe sandals are ready for a summer in the South of France; de-bossed logo rubberized strap tracing the foot and ankle in graphic pops of black, white, and red.
